This course provides an in-depth exploration of the core pathophysiological mechanisms underlying ADHD, the diagnostic criteria per DSM-5 guidelines, and the spectrum of therapeutic modalities available, including both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic approaches. Special attention is given to psychostimulant and non-stimulant medications, behavioral therapy, educational interventions, and long-term care strategies to support patient adherence and optimize outcomes.
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Identify the hallmark symptoms and diagnostic features of ADHD.
- Describe the neurobiological basis of ADHD and its clinical implications.
- Evaluate pharmacologic treatment options, including mechanisms of action, side effects, and contraindications.
