Details
Participants will gain insights into the neurobiological mechanisms contributing to memory loss, executive dysfunction, and behavioral changes, with emphasis on the evolving trajectory of cognitive decline. The course also details the current standards in diagnostic evaluation, pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities, and evidence-based practices for managing behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD).
A significant component of this course is dedicated to the ethical and practical challenges encountered in Alzheimer’s care such as advanced care planning, risk mitigation for wandering or falls, and maintaining patient dignity through each stage of the disease. Furthermore, this program highlights the critical role of interdisciplinary coordination and family education in sustaining quality of life for both patients and their caregivers.
Tailored for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Registered Nurses (RNs), Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs), and Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners (ARNPs), this training supports both clinical proficiency and professional development.
By the end of this program, participants will be equipped with the clinical knowledge, communication strategies, and compassionate care principles required to effectively support individuals with Alzheimer’s disease, thereby contributing to improved outcomes in geriatric and palliative care environments.
