This comprehensive 30-hour CE course is designed to equip Florida Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) with the knowledge and competencies required to assume supervisory roles within various healthcare settings. The course addresses leadership principles, delegation, communication, conflict resolution, team management, and regulatory responsibilities specific to LPN practice in Florida.
Participants will explore the scope and legal parameters of LPN supervision as defined by the Florida Nurse Practice Act and Title 64B9 of the Florida Administrative Code. Emphasis is placed on understanding accountability when overseeing unlicensed assistive personnel (UAPs), managing clinical workflows, and ensuring quality care delivery. The course also examines key concepts in prioritization, ethical decision-making, and clinical judgment.
A significant portion of the course is dedicated to interpersonal and professional communication, with focus areas including interdisciplinary collaboration, mentoring strategies, and constructive feedback. Participants will review best practices for performance evaluation, documentation, and addressing employee or patient-related concerns through structured communication models such as SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation).
Additional modules address crisis management, staffing and scheduling, infection control oversight, and culturally responsive leadership. Real-world scenarios and case-based learning enhance practical application of concepts, allowing LPNs to strengthen confidence in supervisory roles while promoting patient safety and adherence to regulatory standards.
